A QUESTION TO PONDER: Do I praise God and curse at the same time?

According to James 3:9-12 NIV:

9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father,
and with it we curse human beings,
who have been made in God’s likeness.
10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing.
My brothers and sisters, this should not be.
11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?
12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs?
Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

The Bible clearly said that cursing and praising should not come from the same mouth. We cannot be like an angel praising God on Sundays and cursing others from Monday to Saturday.

If we profess that we are a Christian but we still curse and use all difference kinds of bad words when we talk, we better check ourselves, as God clearly said, "this should not be". Moreover we must know that:

1. Cursing is not a Christian nor a professional attitude.
" Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. " Ephesians 4:29 In any kind of situation, it is never a word someone would want to hear from you. Imagine a man cursing while talking in front of his girlfriend's parents - not impressive or swearing in front of our kids - not a good example.

2. Cursing and Praising should not come from the same mouth.
"10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be." As a coconut cannot bear mango, like the fig tree cannot bear grapes, our mouth should only be filled with positive words and praises.

3. Cursing is a Sin.
Exodus 20:7 "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain." Moreover, "If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless." James 1:26

God does not want us to use bad and unpleasant words, he also doesn't want us to curse. God wants us to be gentle and forgiving.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:

God knows that we cannot change ourselves overnight especially if it is already a habit. But it is not an excuse to change. Ask God for forgiveness and help. God loves you and believes in you. He know you can change. Try this experiment and see the difference:

1. In the morning, try to count how many times you curse, or say unpleasant words to others, and take note of those unpleasant words and see the outcome, how it fuels your stress and anger and how it affects your relationship.

2. In the afternoon, try NOT to use any kind of bad words and be gentle in everything you say. If you are having a hard time, ask God to help you. Instead of cursing, pray and say, help me God.

3. In the evening, try to see the difference, write the outcome of both actions. Then count all the different kinds of unpleasant words that you use habitually and try to avoid saying them one by one everyday, little by little replace it with pleasant words until its gone. Observe how your life and relationship changes. Observe how pleasant it is to obey the Word of God.

PRAYER:

Dear God,
Thank you for this wonderful reminder that cursing should never be part of my daily conversation. It should never be part of my life. Please help me that I may find it unpleasant to myself and to those who hear me. I am weak and I can't change this alone by myself. Help me that I may follow you by not cursing or using unpleasant words. Help me Lord, I need you. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

23.2.16

Praying with Wrong motives!

"When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your own pleasures." James 4:3

God always answer when we call to him, but sometimes his answer is not what we expected. Sometimes we don't really get what we want and expect to receive from him. Why?

Today, let us discover what the scripture says about this:

1. God sees our hearts. Base on the scripture found on the 4th Chapter of James, he explained praying with wrong motive is not a good idea. We must know that God sees our heart for everything is transparent in his sight. Our parents and friends can be sometimes clueless when we lie to them and could probable not find out about it but not with God. Everything is known to God, even the very secrets of our hearts. So praying with wrong motive will not work. So we need to ask ourselves this questions when we pray:

What is my request from God? Why do I pray for it? What is it for? What is my motive in praying? Is it for my own pleasure?

If we are praying with wrong motive and intention, God will not do it for us. God is the Alpha and Omega, he knows where we have been and where we are going. If our prayers will lead us away from righteousness, then God will say no to it or will give us a better option. Like our parents, God will not give us something that will harm us and put us in danger.

2. Moreover, the condition of the heart plays a big role in prayer. What is the condition of your heart? A heart that is right with God will always have the right motive in praying, for it is one with God. And it follows the will of God. But sin pollutes the heart.

3. For that reason, sin must not be present. Confess to God the sin that has been committed, whether it is big or small, a sin is always a sin that contaminates the mind and the heart. So we must turn away from it and be one with our creator in prayer.

I remember an illustration about a man with the devil whispering on the left ear and an angel of God on the right ear. The devil whispers and suggests ideas that appears to be right but is wrong and so the presence of the devil confuses the man on what to do. Sin also does it in our prayers, as long as we have sins in our hearts, being right with God in our prayers is impossible. So we must get rid of the sin by asking forgiveness. Sin contaminates our thoughts while we pray.

4. Therefore, after repentance, our prayers will be selflessly following the will of God for us. When our hearts are right with God, then our motive changes. Instead of the "I" being the center of the prayer, it will become "God" as the center of it. Then we are praying for the WILL OF GOD in us and not our own selfish desire.

SELF CHECK:
Today before you pray, list all your prayer request and see what are your prayers to God. Check the purpose, motive, and intention of your request. Then ask God to help you to pray. Pray for your prayer. Ask God to help you pray selflessly and according to God's Will.

PRAYER:
Dear God,
Thank you for your word today. I know that sometimes, my prayers are so selfish and not according to your will. My prayers are impure and are only for my own benefit. Please help me by changing my prayers according to your will. That my heart and mind will be one with you. That I will prayer with a pure heart and mind. Please help me. Let me confess my sins to you and ask for your forgiveness. Let your light shine in my heart and make me pure as white as the snow. Let my prayers be pleasing to you. If my faith is not enough for me to trust and believe you in my prayers, please show yourself to me and let me experience your power so that I may give you praise and worship  you all my life. This is what I pray in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER is the best example of a prayer that Jesus himself taught us. This can be found in Matthew 6:9-13. The Lord's Prayer is one of the topic that I will be working on shortly. Please don't forget to share the Word of God daily. Thank you and have a great day!

20.2.16

God: "Ask For Whatever You Want Me to Give You."

"Sky is NOT even a Limit"

QUESTION:

If you have one prayer or a wish in your life, what will it be? Will it be to find a job? Or for your family to be united? Or to travel the world? Or to be rich? Or to cure a son or daughter? If you have a lamp like Aladdin, what kind of request will you make from the genie? Will it be for yourself or for someone else?

I remember one story in the Bible about God asking Solomon of what he wanted to receive from him. Here is the story taken from 2 Chronicles 1:7-12 New International Version (NIV):

That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you."Solomon answered God, “You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place. Now, Lord God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
11 God said to Solomon, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, possessions or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.

Tell me, what if God ask you the same question: What do you want God to give you? What will you ask of him? The sky is not even a limit, what will you ask? Today, we will see why God was pleased with the response of Solomon and why he gave him more than he asked for:

Response of Solomon:

1. Selfless request. God can give him anything he wanted, but Solomon chose to ask for wisdom and knowledge, not for himself but for the sake of his kingdom. God even emphasized that he could have ask for the death of his enemy or for a long life. But he put Israel ahead of himself so God was pleased.
2. Need over want. Solomon knows that he needs wisdom and knowledge more than wealth and long life to govern and so he ask for it.
3. Pure and good motive. More than anything, he clearly wanted to securely govern his kingdom well and has no plan of destroying it or giving it up to an invader so God was pleased.

Response of God:

1. A quick answer. God responded immediately to Solomon.
2. Granted his request. God gave him wisdom and knowledge as he asked.
3. Gave more that what he asked for. God gave him wealth, possessions and honor, such as no king who was before him ever had and none after him.

And if you haven't received what you ask for:
James 4:3" When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. "

God wants us to be like Solomon, asking for our needs selflessly with pure and good motive. We can ask for anything like money, job, health, and everything else, but we must consider and ask why we ask for it. Sky is not even a limit for God. Try him.

SOMETHING TO DO:

If you haven't ask God for anything yet, try to ask him of something, but please consider the pointers above. Ask him and see what he can do for you today.

PRAYER:

Dear God,
Thank you for letting me know that you are able to do anything for me, but most of the time my heart's desire is not even in line with what you want me to have. Please let me know how to ask selflessly with the right motive. And if my faith is not enough to believe let me experience you today. Be with me and show me what big difference you can make in my daily life. This is what I pray in the mighty name of Jesus I pray, amen.

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Are YOU the Blessed Man the Psalmist have spoken about?

The passage below is from the famous book of Psalm 1, please read through the passage and see if you are the man or woman the Psalmist have spoken of:

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of the sinners or sit in the seat of mockers,
but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither— whatever he does prospers.
Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Probably, you will say "yes", that is me or maybe no that is not me. But if you are, please encourage others by leaving a comment below of how God wonderfully bless you. But if you think you are not, I am glad to tell you that though this passage is a description of a blessed man, Psalm 1, is at the same time, a formula showing cause and effect and a key on how to become a blessed man. Imagine how everyone in the world looking and searching for a formula or a way to be successful in all aspects of life and sadly some find it in a wrong way.

Yesterday, I have posted about how important your mornings can be and how spending it with God makes a difference. In continuation, this biblical scripture pointed out how blessed a person can be if he or she delights himself in the Lord. Science have spoken of cause and effect so as the Bible.
According to the Psalmist if you are the person who:
1. Does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.
2. Stand in the way of the sinner.
3. sit in the seat of the mocker.

And if you:
4. Delight in the law of the Lord.
5. Meditating on it day and night.

Then you are,
1. Like a tree planted by streams of water,
2.which yields its fruit in season
3. and whose leaf does not wither—
4. whatever he does prospers.

If you have found a key to a treasure box or have found a map to a land with hidden treasure, will you ignore it or throw it away? Certainly not. You will try to open it and try to get the precious items on it. God's Word is a treasure box filled with precious jewels. His Words are perfect and is useful in our daily life. Making a man walk straighter. How wonderful and amazing to know that if we walk according to God, He will direct our ways and will be our supplication. And surely, if God blesses he adds no trouble to it. After reading, think for awhile and see if you are the person the Psalmist have spoken about. If not, read Psalm 1 again and do the EXPERIMENT of cause and effect:

Study Psalm 1 carefully. Try to carefully follow verses 1 and 2 for a week and see the effect.

PRAYER:
Dear God,
Thank you for this wonderful day you blessed me with. I am not sure if I am the man the Psalmist have spoken about to be blessed, but if you think I am not. Please show me your way so I can follow you and delight myself in you. And if I lack faith, let me experience you that I may believe. Thank you so much. In the mighty name of Jesus, I ask and pray. Amen.

Do not Give up!

Are you having difficulties and problems today? And everything seems falling apart? And you will like giving up? Do not worry, just pray continually and do not give up. I remember a story in the Bible about Jesus telling his disciples to pray and not give up. Something that we all must do when we are in trouble or in a situation that is out of our control. Let's read this short story and see what Jesus means:

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Praying is essential to every Christian. It is a lifeline that helps us continue and survive the trials and difficulties in life. Prayer is a lifeline to God. But tell me, how do you ask God about your needs? Are you persistent enough to get your prayers answered? Or do you pray without even believing that God can do it. God made it plain and even tell us a story about the power of prayer and how we must pray. Let us discover the power of prayer through the character of the widow in the parable:

CHARACTER OF THE WIDOW:
1. Persistent. The most obvious character of the widow is being persistent. She keeps on coming to the judge for help. This is exactly what God wants us to do. To keep on coming to him. We must pray continually without ceasing. Why do we need to be persistent? Because God sees our sincerity through our persistency. Persistency pays a lot even in prayer as Jesus mentioned,"And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?"   If we cry to God and plea for our needs, will he keep silent? No he will not so we must pray continually without stopping as God is listening to our cry and will act in our behalf.

2. Faith. The woman knows that the judge can do something about her problem because he is of the authority and power to fix it. She has faith with the judge. God also wants us to go to him persistently asking him in faith, believing that God can do it for us and that he can handle our problems and issues in life and that he has the authority and power over all.

3. Determine. The woman never give up. She is determined that she will be helped and justice will be served. We must be like her, determined that God can do it, never giving up, but always looking forward to what God can do for it. Let's put our hope in God. As Scripture says, "Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame." Romans 10:11

RESPOND OF THE UNGODLY JUDGE:
He refused for a while but helped the widow eventually. Though the judge refuses for a while but because of her persistency the judge eventually helped her. “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!

RESPOND OF GOD:
God will quickly answer. “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. God knows our heart and if he sees that we are persistently praying in faith he will quickly respond to our prayer. God is a just God and he will make sure that justice is serve. He will help the helpless especially those who cry for his mercy.

God always answers when we call to him with an earnest heart. Call to him and he will come and rescue you.

PRAYER:
Dear God,
Thank you for reminding me today that you are willing to help me and that I should be persistent in faith when I call on you. I know that you can help me and you are bigger than my fear and worries in life. You have the authority over all the earth and over my life. Please let me know that you are near and that you can do something for me. If my faith is too small, please let me experience you that I may believe and be blessed by you. Thank you Oh, God! Let me pray continuously without stopping, let me know that you are able. This is what I pray in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

How to Keep the Marriage Intact and Stronger?

Genesis 2:22-24 NIV

"22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23  The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” 24That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh."

The Word of God says, man is united with his wife and they become one flesh but it is sad to know that nowadays divorce rate is getting higher and higher, and it feels like it is becoming common almost everywhere in the world. But pretty sure anyone who plan to marry believes that he or she found Mr. or Mrs. Right. But how is it possible that a lot of married couple end up in divorce or being separated after a year or two?

The answer is Marriage does not only requires one type of love. Marriage requires all types of love to keep the marriage intact and stronger. As mentioned on my first blog about love, love can be divided into four types: "Agape" for Godly love, "Phileo" for friendly love, "Eros" for romantic-passionate love and "Storge" for family love and here are some things to consider:

1. Romance is so important for marriage, but a man cannot just marry a woman because of passionate-attraction, "Eros" or romantic love. What will happen if the romance is gone? Romance can be totally different after 10 to 30 year of marriage they say, more so if all the unwanted fats and wrinkles grow visible. What will you do if you find your spouse less attractive? Will you find a younger one? And if that new one become less attractive as the first, will you consider another? When romantic love is gone what will you hold on to?

 2. That is why friendship within marriage is a must. Knowing that your spouse is also your friend gives extra spice and bond to a marriage. Is your spouse always coming home late because he spends too much time with his friends after work? What do you think he does with his friends that he cannot do with you? Boys are boys and girls are girls but if your spouse spends more time with his other friends than with you, then friendship is not established within the marriage. That is why a couple should have a lot of common interest to share with. Something that you would both be excited to do or talk about together aside from bills and responsibilities that can be totally boring and stressful. Something that your spouse would love to do with you instead of someone else so "Phileo" love can also be present in marriage. So friendship will keep the marriage stronger.

3.Additionally, spouses must have "Storge" or "the love for the family". This kind of love goes hand and hand with commitment and responsibility which is also a must in a marriageMost people enter marriage without even thinking of responsibilities. They exchanged "I do's" without even realizing that the words "for richer and for poorer, till death do as part" should really exist. So when the hardship comes they give up. So both couple must have love for the family that they are creating. Do not create a family if you are just going to break it.

4. Lastly and the most essential is the "Agape" or love of God. Marriage fails because it is not sanctified by God. God holds the marriage and keeps it pleasant and unconditional. A famous quote once said, "A family that prays together, stays together". This is so true. If the family prays, it creates a bond that will never be broken. Imagine, your family praying together, your spouse reading the Bible and teaching your kids how to pray. "What a lovely family I have", you can say. God gives peace and assurance of a better future. God will never let your family to be broken, but He will heal every wound and straighten what is crooked. So God will preserve the family. Moreover, you are setting a good example to your kids so when they have their own families, they will definitely would have the same as the one you have created. A family full of love.

Therefore, to keep the marriage stronger, keep all the points above in mind. If you are still single, it will also help you plan for your future marriage and family life. As I have mentioned, all types of love should exist and co-exist to keep the marriage stronger and last a life-time.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:
1. What kind of love is my marriage founded on?
2. Is my spouse also my friend?
3. Is God the center of my marriage?
4. Are all the types of love present in my marriage?
5. What am I doing to keep my marriage stronger?

PRAYER:

Dear God,
Thank you for this amazing opportunity to be reminded of your words that I am one flesh with my spouse and I have vow to love him/her through think and thin. Please help both of us to keep our marriage stronger. There is nothing more I could ask for than a marriage that is bonded by your love, sustained by friendship, ignited by passion and romance and cherished as a family. Please help us O loving God and show us what you can do. If our faith is weak, let us experience your power that we may believe and abide in you. Thank you Lord, in the precious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

18.2.16

In God's Perfect Time

I woke up early this morning to bake some bread for my friends. I was hurrying up because they need to leave early so I tried to fast track the preparation and baking. So I put the dough in the oven and set it to a temperature higher than the usually thinking it will help lessen my time of baking but I ended up burning the top of the bread. Good thing I have an extra dough. Then because of this, I realized three things, first is that following instruction is really important. Second is perfect timing makes a perfect bread. Third is though the bread tastes fine, I knew, it could have been better.

From this experience, God impressed his Words in my heart from Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV) :

"There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens:"

It is amazing how God teaches us the lessons in life through our daily activities and I would like to share with you what I have learned today:

1. Following instruction is important. Like baking, cooking and even operating a machine, following instruction is essential for it will help you achieve the best result, which is quite true, I could have set the temperature according to the baking instructions but I didn't so the result was not as it was suppose to be. Like in life, God handed us over his very Word for instruction and guidance and sadly even though most of us already know about the Word of God and its effect and power, we still tend to experiment and follow our own worldly ways, so a lot of people go astray. As it was inquired and answered in the Bible:

"How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word" Psalms 119:9

2. Perfect timing makes a perfect bread. If the instruction says 20 minutes, then 20 minutes it is. Not 10 or 15 nor 25, it must be 20. The instruction on the packaging was not easily written down nor formulated. Bakers have done multiple trial and error to make sure that the process is perfect and will produce the best result. Therefore, I must wait for the perfect time for my bread. As the Bible said, "There is a time for everything.." Like baking, in life there are times that we need to wait, sometimes for a job, or for a medical result, or even for a spouse to spend the rest of our lives with. Waiting is one of the hardest thing to do and as we all have heard, "Patience is a virtue" and yes, it is true. Blessed are those who wait, especially those who wait upon the Lord. God has his own timeline, we may not know what he has instore for us but if God tells you to wait, know that what he has, is best and perfect for you.

3. Though the bread tasted fine, I knew, it could have been better. And as a result, the bread tasted just fine. But if I have just followed the instruction and waited a little longer, the bread could have been better. Life is often times like this, we could have waited a little more for God but instead we have chosen something else and settle for less.

Life is filled with decision making and what we decide on today can greatly impact our tomorrow so if our decision needs time, then we must take the time. We must ask God for guidance and give us patience in waiting. I know it is not easy to wait, but waiting in God is worth it because he is the Alpha and Omega, the first and last is he. He knows best and will always gives the best for those who wait on him. "No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause." Psalm 25:3

If your single, do not rush, God is preparing the best and Godly spouse for you.
If you are looking for a job, do not be involved with illegal businesses, God has a decent job for you. If you are waiting for a relationship to be restored, don't give up, God is mending it for you.
If you have an unanswered prayer, God is working on it for you.

PRAYER:
Dear God,
Thank you for everything that you have done for me. Thank you for reminding me to wait on you and seek you while waiting. Thank you for this great joy knowing that you are able and that you are always near. Help me to have patience and give me wisdom to recognize and discern your will in my life. Please let me know that you are working on my behalf. I will put my trust in you and wait on you.

Thank you Lord, this is what I pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

How's My Parenting?

First, I would like to say thank you for all the positive feedback with my last post "How to Keep the Marriage Intact and Stronger", God is so faithful, he wanted us to know that there's so much to life than what it is. We just need to follow and obey his Words. His Word is life and a precious jewel to those who seek for it. So I would like to share more of his wisdom and be an inspiration especially to those who need it the most. Before we go and dig into today's wisdom, if you are a parent, try to ask yourself this question:

Who am I to my children? Are they proud of me? Is my name worth mentioning to them? Did I or am I raising them right? Two days ago, my husband and I were listening to this song "Walk a Little Straighter" by Billy Currington and whenever I listen to it, I can't help but cry. It says so much about the reality of life in a family and there's so much lesson to get from this song so I decided to share the first part of the chorus with you and the lyrics goes:

"And I'd say
Walk a little straighter daddy
You're swaying side to side
You're footsteps make me dizzy
And no matter how I try
I keep tripping and stumbling
If you'd look down here you'd see
Walk a little straighter daddy
You're leading me"

Children learn almost all the basics through their parents. The way they talk, walk, dress and nearly everything else. Children see their parents as someone they can look up to from the moment they open their eyes and even when they are grown up. Though a child sometimes will not tell how they feel about their mom and dad, but inside them they know what and who their parents are to them. But sadly not all parents are good to their children. Parents must raise their children but sometimes it is the other way around.

SELF CHECK:

1. Who am I to my children?
Have you ever asked yourself who are you in your children's eyes. Are you someone they look up to?  Or someone they don't want to be?

The influence of the parents to their children is endless that is why setting a good example is a must. You cannot just hand your obligation to the school. The basic and most important education is at home and whether you like it or not you are your child's first teacher. The bible says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it." Every word and language you use is registered and remembered by your son or daughter, if you swear and say all kinds of bad words, don't be surprised when you hear your child say it. If you don't keep your promises don't expect your children to keep theirs.

Furthermore, mothers and fathers are their children's hero's because they can do and fix almost anything but what if they always mess up? What will the children learn from them? Will mom and dad remain as heroes in his or her eyes or the villain who destroys all that is good. "Walk a little straighter daddy, You're leading me" You are leading your child, so make sure you don't sway from side to side. Because whether you like it or not you are setting an example, so better set a good one.

2. Did I raise my kids right? or Am I raising them right?
The future of your child is in your hands. If you raise them good the way God wants it, they will likely have a better life. But in order for you to raise them well, you have to live right. Show your kids the ways of life through your actions and words. Don't teach them something you don't even do or else they will call you a liar. Set a Godly standard. If you do, you will always be at peace, because you know that your child is in the right way. As the Psalmist said, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

3.Does my child respect me and is proud of me?
As we all know, pride and respect cannot be dictated, you have to work and invest on it to earn it. You can't just tell them to respect and be proud of you, because in reality that is not how it works. You have to invest on it by behaving the way you should, the way a good parent should. Your child will honor you and respect you not because you told them to do so but because you are worthy of it. A good example can be found from the second stanza of the same song:

"He stumbled in the gym
On graduation day
And I couldn't help but feel
So ashamed
And I wasn't surprised a bit
When he didn't stay
He stumbled out before they called my name

And I thought
Walk a little straighter daddy
You're swaying side to side
It's not just me who's watching
you've caught everybody's eye
And you're tripping and stumbling
and even though I've turned 18
Walk a little straighter daddy
You're still leading me"

That is why the Bible teaches us about how to live our lives. If your having an issue with respect from your children, ask yourself why? what went wrong? Then, ask God to help you figure out how to fix this aspect of your relationship with your children. There's still hope and it is not too late. God can still help you.

PRAYER:

Dear God,

Thank you for reminding me today of my family. I don't want to lead my children astray. I want them to be proud of me and love me and respect me. Help me O God and heal my brokenness. I can't do this without you. Build a bridge between me and my children. I know I cannot change the past but I can still do something with our future. Restore my family and make me a good example to them starting today. Let me walk straighter and lead them to a better future. Help me. This is what I pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
